Who we are

Phillips Farms was founded in 1946 by Forrest and Dorothy Philips.

During World War II, Forrest was drafted into the U.S. military and served in the Philippines. After the war, he returned home to Kahoka, where he married Dorothy and began building a life together. In their early years together, they lived in a home with a dirt floor, no electricity, and no running water — facing challenges together with determination and grit. To support their growing family, Forrest worked hauling livestock, produce, and coal. Around 1946, he had the opportunity to rent a farm, and he began share cropping; marking the beginning of Phillips Farms.

Forrest and Dorothy dedicated the rest of their lives to farming — creating a legacy rooted in hard work, deep faith, and quiet generosity. Today, Phillips Farms continues through their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who proudly do their best to carry on that legacy.

At Phillips Farms, our mission is to be good tenants and faithful stewards of what God has entrusted to us. Whether it is land, livestock, resources, people, or opportunities, we are committed to managing things responsibly and with integrity. We aim to use what God has given us in a way that glorifies Him and helps spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
